Any Blocker 7th or 8th grade girl wishing to try out for the volleyball team needs to be aware of the following: *A completed physical form turned into the Athletic Trainer at the TCISD Field House before tryouts.
*Tryouts begin on Monday, August 25, 2008 from 2:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. and end on Friday, August, 29, 2008.
*Tryouts will take placed in the Blocker Gyms.
*Only students trying out will be allowed in the gyms during this time.
*Students should be picked up in front of the old gym in the bus circle. There are no exceptions.
*All students should be picked up no later than 5:15 p.m.
*Students should wear shorts, T-shirt, tennis shoes and kneepads. More details will be handed out on Monday, August 25, 2008.
All students, returning and new to Texas City ISD, must register prior to the 2008-2009 school year. This required registration will take place at each campus from August 4-8, 2008. Parents should plan to register their students at their school. If you are not sure which elementary school is in your attendance zone, please call the Transportation Department at 942-2810. The first day of school in Texas City ISD for the 2008-2009 school year is Monday, August 25, 2008.
Texas City provides free breakfast and lunch during the summer months when our students are not attending classes. Any child between the ages of 1 and 18 can go to the following locations for breakfast and lunch between the hours of 8 am. and 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday: Old Heights Gym at 300 25th Street, the Nessler Center at 2010 Fifth Avenue North and the Calvin Vincent Center at 701 8th Sstreet South. The program is running now through August 15, 2008. There is no need to fill out any paper work or applications. For more information, call 942-2610.
On May 29, 2008, the TCISD Board of Trustees approved the time line for the superintendent search. As of June 30, 2008, Superintendent Richard Ettredge will be retiring from TCISD after 21 years of service. TASB Executive Search Services is conducting the superintendent search for the district. The Texas City ISD Pre-K/Head Start Registration for 2008 will be held on the following dates at the Head Start Building at Heights Elementary, 300 North Logan: * Tuesday, August 5th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
* Wednesday, August 6th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
*Thursday, August 7th from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
*Friday, August 8th from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Eligibility Requirements
*Children must be three or four years old by September 1, 2008; and
*Must meet income eligibility guidelines and/or qualify for free or reduced National Nutrition Program; or
*Limited proficiency in English; or
*Homeless; or
*Disabilities Application Requirements

2. Immunization Record
3. Social Security Card
4. Family Income Verification (2 recent check stubs for each member employed)
5. Proof of residence in TCISD current within 30 days (lease agreement, utility bills or receipts with address on it, food stamps, Medicaid verification) If living in someone else’s home, the homeowner must provide 2 proofs of residency from the list above, and the appropriate notarized TCISD registration form.
6. Driver’s License
7. If student lives with someone else other than parents please provide notarized or court documentation.
